There are many books and sadhanas translated into English on how to practice Tara. Chandra Easton, a brilliant scholar who is very devoted to mother Tara, completed a beautiful commentary on the root verses of Praise to the Twenty-One Taras, which is a famous tantra taught by the Buddha. Her commentary is based on the teachings of the great masters Taranatha of the 17th century, Jigme Lingpa of the 18th century, and Ven. Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche of the 20th century. She is one of the first Western scholars and devotees to write a book on Tara. This book is not just intellectual essays, but it explains with devotion the power of mother Tara according to the teachings of the uninterrupted lineage. It is a special book on Tara. It makes it easy for the modern reader to understand and connect to Tara, and to benefit from her practice, particularly now when so many challenges are happening in the world and signs of degeneration are manifesting. Connecting to mother Tara is one of the most powerful ways to bring peace and harmony to individuals and the world.
I have been a practitioner of Tara for as long as I can remember because my family practiced mother Tara every evening. Mother Tara has resonated in my heart ever since. I’m so happy and honored to write this short foreword. May it become a special tool to bring peace to everyone’s heart. SARVA MANGALAM.
